The island of Skopelos is full of legende, myths, and hidden blaga. There are many tales of treasures scattered all over the island. No one knows the truth behind the legends. The existence of four carved tombs on Mount Karya above the monastery of Agios Efstathios is an undisputed fact.

On the mountain Karia of Skopelos, you can visit 4 rock-cut tombs dated back to the Roman or early Christian period. Rock-cut tombs were carved into a porous part of the rock in the shape of a box (larynx). The graves were family tombs and they usually were privately owned. Three of them are completed and have 2.5-meter covers. When they were discovered there were signs that the tombs were despoiled. The fourth one isn’t completed.

Iako su grobnice od velike arheološke vrijednosti i vrijedne posjeta, pješačenje na planinu nije lako. Morat ćete se popeti makadamskom cestom do određene točke, a zatim slijediti označenu stazu do grobnica. Kad stignete tamo, neka vam pogled odluta prema horizontu odakle možete vidjeti planinu Olimp za vedrog dana.

Smjerovi: Iz smjera grad Skopelos voziti glavnom cestom prema Castro. Zatim skrenite desno prema pokrajinskoj cesti Skopelos- Loutraki. Otprilike kilometar niz cestu, morate skrenuti oštro lijevo prema planini Kariji. Pratite cestu još 5.5 km gdje ćete gotovo morati polukružno skrenuti desno na makadamskoj cesti za Sentoukia. 1.3 km uz planinu i stići ćete na odredište.
