After the great success of the rebetiko festival and the 8th festival of traditional dances Diamantis Palaiologos, the cultural events of Skopelos continue.

Cultural Association of Glossa Village – Giorgos Michelis Cultural Summer

George Michelis was a respected person for the island of Skopelos, he had served as mayor. The residents of the island and the Cultural and Recreational Association of Glossa Skopelos honor his memory with the three-day events of the same name. The events will take place on August 4,5,6 at the school stadium of the village of Glossa.

The event is an exciting dance performance by the “Children of Glossa”.

Theatre performance. The theatrical group “ftou and out” will present the performance “winding up”.

– 6/8/2023:

Concert with Island artists. Concert with Island musicians entitled “Tonight our island sings”.

On Sunday 6 August at 20.30 at the Orpheus multi-purpose hall in Skopelos will be a presentation of the book “Tales of Skopelos”, by Katerina Provia-Lemisia. This is the first attempt to collect fairy tales from Skopelos and Glossa Village.

The presentation of the book will be made by the philologists and founding members of the Centre for Studies of Skopelos Island, Eleni Spilioti, and Katerina Tzavelopoulou. Mrs. Nikoleta Syrou, Professor of Chemistry and also a founding member of the K.M.N.S. Association will read excerpts from fairy tales of the collection. It is worth noting that the book is another publishing effort of the Centre for Studies and Mrs. Katerina Provia-Levisia is a founding member of the K.M.N.S. The book was published just before the Christmas holidays, in 300 copies and sold out. So it was followed by its republication. The Skopelos tales can be purchased on Sunday at the presentation, signed by the author, as well as from the bookstore Hocharupa in Skopelos.
