She co-owns and operates the iconic “Armoloi” shop in Skopelos Town, a family-run establishment that has been a cornerstone of the island’s artistic community for over 40 years.

Dimitra is the daughter of Nikos Markos, a master potter from Kastoria and the visionary founder of “Armoloi.” Under his guidance, the shop became a hub for local artisans, offering a diverse array of handcrafted items, including ceramics, textiles, and other crafts. Dimitra’s early exposure to this environment deeply influenced her artistic journey.

Her formal education in fashion and textiles at Thames Valley University, complemented by studies in fashion design at AKTO Art & Design, equipped her with a strong foundation in design principles. This blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern design sensibilities is evident in her work, which showcases bold colors, intricate patterns, and a deep appreciation for Greek heritage.

At “Armoloi,” visitors can explore a wide range of Dimitra’s creations, including plates, bowls, vases, and decorative pieces. Each item reflects her commitment to quality and her passion for preserving and evolving the island’s ceramic traditions. Her work is characterized by its use of local materials, hand-painted motifs inspired by nature, and a playful yet sophisticated aesthetic.

Beyond ceramics, “Armoloi” also features hand-made knives and other crafts, offering a comprehensive glimpse into the rich artistic tapestry of Skopelos.

Dimitra actively shares her creative process and new designs on her Instagram account, providing a window into her artistic world.

Whether you’re a collector of fine ceramics or someone looking to bring home a piece of Skopelos’ artistic heritage, Dimitra Markou’s work at “Armoloi” offers a tangible connection to the island’s rich cultural landscape.
