Skopelos Beaches

Would you like to eat fresh fish in a magical setting where the tables are right by the water and the pines embrace you with their beauty and shade? Agnontas with its pebbled beach and crystal clear waters is an ideal destination for you to combine swimming with a  fish tavern. Agnontas in Skopelos is the picturesque port of the fishermen.

The beach was named after the Olympic runner Agnonta or Agnon when he returned a winner to the beach in 596 BC from Olympia. In honor of the Olympic champion Agnonta this area took his name. Indeed, the face the Olympian is depicted on silver coins of the classical era.

Agnontas beach is located on the south side of the island. It is only 8 km from Chora and the port of Skopelos. By car you will need about 10 minutes from the main town to arrive. Access is easy as there is an asphalt road network. There is also organized local transport.

In the picturesque harbor of Agnontas you will find many fishing boats. In the evenings, fishermen go out to sea to bring fish, lobsters, squid and shrimps. So you will enjoy the catch of the day at the local taverns. The beach with the taverns are a perfect fit. Here at the tables that are truly on the water you will taste fresh seafood and exquisite appetizers.

The sunset is also unique in Agnontas. At the port with the emerald waters, where the pine trees literally touch the sea, you will not easily find winds. The beach is basically located in a sheltered bay. So even in days of bad weather the sea remains relatively calm.

The area of Agnontas is very busy, apart from the taverns there are also apartments for rent. Next to Agnontas you will meet Amarantos rock with the characteristic pine trees that lean over the sea.
