In recent years the green Skopelos island started to become popular and remarkable growth in tourism infrastructure has been noticed. However, the Island of the Northern Sporades always maintains its authenticity.

Skopelos is well known worldwide due to the very successful Hollywood movie Mamma Mia and the green-on-blue landscape.

Skopelos is easy to reach from Athens by three ports ( Evia Mantoudi, Agios Konstantinos, and Evia Kimi).  Especially during the summer period, the ferry companies are increasing their routes.

Visitors from Northern Greece can use the port of Thessaloniki. For the ones that are coming from Central Greece, Volos is the most comfortable port to access Skopelos.

Skopelos is one of the islands that have three ports and depending on the weather, the boat can be moored on the island at any time.

Itineraries and ports: Skopelos, Glossa, Agnontas.

Skopelos Chora Port, on the southeastern side of the island, Loutraki Port that is the seaport of Glossa Village on the northwestern side of the island, and Agnontas port, 8 kilometers away from Chora on the southwest coast of the island, at Agnontas Village.

In your searches request all Skopelos Ports. There are days that vessels approach only one of Skopelos’ ports. The island offers bus connections from the ports to the rest of the island.

Travelers to the Northern Sporades can book their ferry tickets with the four following ferry companies ANES FERRIES, BLUE STAR FERRIES, SEAJETS, and AEGEAN FLYING DOLPHINS.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The active itineraries throughout the year are the following:

FROM VOLOS TO GLOSSA – TO SKOPELOS:

  • The flying Dolphin Erato by Aegean Flying Dolphins

The Sea Jets ships and the PROTEAN and SYMI boats of Anes Ferries operate seasonally only during the summer period, from June to October.

SKOPELOS TOWN PORT

The main island’s port is in Skopelos Town. Chora is also the biggest commercial center on the island. To be more specific there are two ports in Skopelos Chora. The old one, which is protected, and the new one. Of course, all ships dock at the new port.

The boats that travel to Skopelos Town port are the conventional ships PROTEUS and SYMI of the company ANES FERRIES, the conventional ship EXPRESS SKIATHOS and the catamaran FLYING CAT 5 of the company BLUE STAR FERRIES, the catamaran ships  PAROS JET and CHAMPION JET 1 of the company SEA JETS, the flying dolphins of AEGEAN FLYING DOLPHINS company and ACHILLEAS ship of the company SKYROS LINES.

The taxi and local bus stops are just to the left of the new port. A few meters away is the municipal parking lot of Chora.

LOUTRAKI PORT ( GLOSSA PORT)

Loutraki is the seaport of Glossa. It is the second major port on the island. Many itineraries first stop at Glossa port and then continue their route to Skopelos Chora port.

The ships that travel to Loutraki or Glossa port are the conventional ships PROTEUS and SYMI of the company ANES FERRIES, the conventional ship EXPRESS SKIATHOS and the catamaran FLYING CAT 5 of the company BLUE STAR FERRIES, the catamaran ships  PAROS JET and CHAMPION JET 1 of the company SEA JETS and the flying dolphins of AEGEAN FLYING DOLPHINS company.

In Loutraki, there is everything a happy traveler may need. Hotels, studios, and apartments for pleasant accommodation, as well as tavernas, restaurants, and cafes. There are supermarkets and seasonal shops, too.

History lovers maybe are interested that Loutraki was the ancient city of Selinous which was founded in the 8th century B.C. Today they can see the ruins of the walls of the city which flourished in the 4th century B.C.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

When booking tickets search for the port of the Glossa instead of Loutraki. All companies use the Glossa port.

AGNONTAS PORT

Agnontas is a small seaside village with a port on the southwest coast of Skopelos Island. It is located just 8 kilometers away from Chora.

The Agnontas port is used as an alternative port in cases of bad weather. Therefore, Agnontas is the alternative port for all kinds of ships in cases where due to bad weather conditions the main port of Chora and the Loutraki port are closed.

On the other hand, the ordinary summer itinerary Mantoudi to Agnontas is only operated by ANES Ferries and the ship Proteas. Moreover, the specific route is operated as a direct trip without stops at any other port.
