The festivities commenced on Friday, May 30, with a vibrant evening dedicated to the students of the association’s music program. The historic Orfeas Hall was brimming with families, friends, and art lovers, all eager to enjoy the culmination of months of musical training.

The president of the Association, Mrs. Angeliki Kastani, warmly welcomed the audience and set the tone for the evening. She expressed gratitude for the enduring support from the community, recognizing the unwavering commitment of the instructors and the trust placed in the organization’s educational efforts by parents.

Under the guidance of their teacher, Ioanna Marouli, young musicians took the stage to perform pieces they had been perfecting throughout the academic year. Their talent and progress resonated deeply with the audience, earning enthusiastic applause. Notably, the program featured passionate interpretations of classic works by legendary Greek composers, including Manos Hatzidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, and Christos Nikolopoulos. Performers Alexandra Glossoti, Nena Apouseroglou, Evangelia Stamouli, and Dimitris Pachis stood out for their emotional delivery and strong stage presence.

A particularly memorable moment was the solo performance of young Spyros Patsis on the bouzouki, whose skillful playing added a traditional yet dynamic flair to the concert. On Sunday, June 1, the final act of the cultural celebration took a quieter, more introspective turn. The Association’s headquarters hosted a printmaking exhibition curated by the visual arts department under the direction of artist and printmaker Josephine Gallagher.

Visitors were welcomed into a transformed space filled with striking works created using linocut techniques—a form of relief printing that involves carving images into linoleum sheets. With just a few essential materials—linoleum, ink, and paper—students of all ages managed to create works that told personal stories, explored abstract themes, and evoked emotional responses.

Gallagher, a French artist who now calls Skopelos home, brings a colorful background informed by her time spent in France, the UK, Lebanon, Morocco, and Guatemala. Her international experiences have shaped her artistic vision, which she now shares through workshops, handmade notebooks, and greeting cards crafted on the island. Her guidance allowed students to explore a refined yet accessible art form and to connect their creativity with the local cultural fabric.

Each print in the exhibition was a testament to simplicity transformed into meaning. Through contrasts of black and white, bold lines, and thoughtful compositions, the works captivated the audience and invited them to reflect on the power of visual storytelling.
