Tradition and Cultural Heritage of Skopelos
Skopelos is an island with a rich cultural heritage. Special customs traditions and unique legends exist on the greenest island of the Northern Sporades. The tradition of Skopelos is directly identified with the religion of the place.
Cultural heritage is an essential part of the daily life of both locals and tourists. Throughout the year and especially in summer there are very beautiful celebrations and festivals. We must definitely mention that traditional dances of Skopelos island and especially the traditional costumes have been loved all over Greece. The costumes of Skopelos are a folklore trademark of Greek tradition.
The people of Skopelos passionately love their island, its history, and its culture. Thus they maintain their traditions at a steady pace. Each village in Skopelos highlights in its own unique way the customs and traditions of the island!
Skopelos Summer 2020 – Covid-19
No doubt the present year of 2020 is a difficult one. The new conditions because of the pandemic of Covid-19 change our way of living. The Municipality of Skopelos, with respect to the unprecedented and difficult situation that Greece is facing together with the other countries, decided to allow some events to take place in the month of August in Skopelos Town. Always following the measures and instructions imposed by the Ministries of Health and Culture. The events will take place with the aim of always prioritizing health and will follow all the protocols submitted by the competent authorities.
