Skopelos
Greek islands are very popular all over the world. Usually, most people while thinking of Greece have in mind the Cyclades islands, Santorini, Mykonos, and Paros. Nevertheless, there are also other beautiful islands in Greece. The Northern Sporades are hidden treasures of greenery landscapes.
Especially Skopelos island which has taken the title of the Green on the Blue island, since it is the greenest island in the Aegean. Over 80% of the island is covered by pine forests. Moreover, the special characteristic of Skopelos is its lush beaches with small pebbles and golden sand.
Furthermore, the pine trees literally take root in the crystal clear sea. But besides the enchanting beaches and the green landscape with the blue waters, the island of Skopelos has other beauties as well to admire. Some of them are the Chora, the two mountains, the monasteries, and the Ai Gianni church of Mama Mia. Imagine lying on the beach, under the greek sun, and the ocean’s gentle wind mixes with the aroma of pine.
Getting to Skopelos
The most common way to travel to Skopelos is by boat. However there is no direct line from Athens (Piraeus port, Rafina port) to Skopelos Island.
Ports that have direct lines to Skopelos are Volos Magnisias, Agios Konstantinos Fthiotida, Mantoudi Evia, and Kymi Evia.

The ferry boat ACHILLEAS first stops at Alonissos and then continues to Skopelos port.

TIP: ACHILLEAS does not stop at Glossa Port nor in Skiathos.

The boat ride from Kymi, Evia to Skopelos takes about 3 hours.

Kymi is about 165 km from Athens.
Βy your own vehicle
To get from Athens to Kymi, with your own vehicle, you will need about 3 hours. The distance (Athens-Kimi) is 175 km.
By Ktel
If you DO NOT have your own vehicle you can reach Kymi port from KTEL Liosion or Evia KTEL. Usually, there are morning routes of the bus Ktel Evias to Evia Chalkida – Kimi.
The cost is 16.70 € simple transfer and 31.00 € with the return.
The KTEL bus takes approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes.
